TEACCH Transition Assessment Profile (TTAP)

July 25, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 4:30 pm

This seven-session virtual workshop will focus on the administration of the TEACCH Transition Assessment Profile (TTAP), a comprehensive test that was developed for older children, adolescents, and adults on the autism spectrum, with a special emphasis on those with transitional and vocational needs. The TTAP consists of a formal assessment evaluating the following six major functional skill areas within three different contexts (direct observation, home, and school or work):

  1. Vocational Skills
  2. Vocational Behavior
  3. Independent Functioning
  4. Leisure Skills
  5. Functional Communication
  6. Interpersonal Behavior

The informal assessment is a tool for the development of appropriate transition goals and objectives within community-based instruction settings.

Note: Having access to your TTAP manual will be helpful but not required during the training.

TTAP materials are not included in event registration fees but are available for purchase online.

TTAP Manual and Scoring Sheets:

  • Note: this option does not come with the boxed TTAP Kit containing assessment materials. A list of materials needed to complete the assessment is provided, but those who administer the TTAP would be required to purchase and assemble their own materials. For ease of use, participants may consider purchasing the TTAP Kit sold by OE Enterprises (hyperlinked below).
  • TTAP Kit:
    • Note: this option does NOT include the TTAP manual or scoring sheets.
    • This kit contains supplemental materials used in conjunction with the manual and scoring sheets sold separately by Pro-Ed (hyperlinked above). It includes materials needed to complete the assessment right out of the box.

Objectives:

At the completion of training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify learning styles frequently associated with adolescents and adults on the autism spectrum
  • Administer, score, and interpret the TTAP results
  • Develop a Cumulative Record of Skills (CRS) to help identify individual vocational preferences (even for individuals with limited communication skills) and to serve as a functional resume
  • Use the information from this instrument to guide the development of an effective transition/vocational plan and goal plan for individuals and their support staff
  • Develop strategies for using transition/vocational plans and goal plans to teach skills that lead to positive adult outcomes for autistic individuals
  • Make environmental accommodations via the use of Structured TEACCHing techniques to enhance an individual’s positive behavior and performance
  • Implement strategies to support families, support staff, employers, and others who support individuals with ASD

Target Audience:

This course is designed for educators, transition facilitators, employment support professionals, job coaches, day program staff, counselors, behavior support staff, other care providers, and psychologists, as well as others interested in supporting adolescents and adults on the autism spectrum.
