Preparing for Middle School – A FREE Workshop for Parents/Grandparents ONLY

May 3 @ 8:30 am - 4:00 pm

This workshop is intended for parents/grandparents of children with ASD (in primarily inclusion school settings) who will be transitioning into middle school soon. The day will include presentations and group discussions focusing on how parents/grandparents can help their child transition more easily. Content includes general information about middle school, accommodations and modifications, friends, bullying, stress, anxiety, relaxation, puberty, and hygiene. Parents/grandparents in attendance will receive a workbook to use with their child at home. This parent/grandparent information session is being offered free of charge.

Target Audience: 

Parents of 5th graders with high functioning autism or Asperger’s Syndrome who will be headed into middle school next year. Interested parents of 4th graders are also invited to attend. PLEASE NOTE, this training is not intended for professionals.
