Fundamentals of Structured TEACCHing for Autistic Adults Virtual Training

Fundamentals of Structured TEACCHing for Autistic Adults is a 12-contact-hour training that will provide participants with an overview of the learning styles of autism and Structured TEACCHing. Structured TEACCHing is based on the cognitive characteristics of individuals on the autism spectrum and the use of visual supports to provide meaning, promote independence, and capitalize on the individual’s strengths. Participants will also learn antecedent-based behavior management strategies using Structured TEACCHing principles.

At the completion of training, participants will be able to:

  • Identify learning styles of autistic adults
  • Design the physical organization of different spaces in the home and on the job
  • Develop individualized schedules and work systems
  • Develop meaningful visual structure to promote engagement with vocational, social-emotional, leisure, and daily living activities
  • Implement a problem-solving process to address an individual’s challenging behavior and support their increased ability to cope with stressors

Target Audience:

This course is designed for program coordinators, case managers, employment specialists, front-line supervisors, and direct support professionals (DSP’s), as well as any others interested in instructional strategies for autistic adults, with a dual focus on residential and vocational settings.
