Registration for Project ECHO Mental Health is currently open for mental health providers (September 2022) in North Carolina who have individuals with an autism spectrum disorder of any age on their caseload and who would like to develop their expertise in working with this population. Your commitment to participation would include 90-minute teleconsultation events held two times monthly.

An interdisciplinary team across multiple departments at UNC-Chapel Hill has been awarded a new grant to create a statewide employment collaborative to identify current strengths and barriers of existing transition services, expand and strengthen transition services, and facilitate improved transition from school to postsecondary education and employment.

TEACCH School Transition to Employment and Postsecondary Education (T-STEP) is an intervention developed to support the transition to employment and post-secondary education for 16-21-year-olds with Autism Spectrum Disorder who will or have received the Future-Ready Core high school diploma. Participation includes skill instruction, group practice, video modeling, and role-plays. Available at several community colleges across North Carolina. Apply Now for Summer 2022!

HEELS Prep On-Line 2021 and HEELS Bridge. These programs are for young adults between the ages of 18 and 26 years old who have Intellectual Disabilities.

There is no doubt that 2020 has been a challenge for our TEACCH team and the families that we serve. Our word of the year was “pivot” as we worked to transition our clinical services to telehealth and our professional development programs to virtual trainings. These pivots have created some unexpected highlights in the midst of this crazy year, and we are excited to share them with you.

The purpose of this research study is to learn more about what kinds of interventions help young adults with ASD. Through funding from the Department of Defense Autism Research Program, we want to compare two different transition to adulthood programs.
