What is AASET?
AASET (Autistic Adults and other Stakeholders Engage Together) is a group of community research partners co-led by Drs. Teal Benevides and Stephen Shore. It was founded in 2017 from an engagement award from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI, EAIN#4208). AASET includes neurodiverse people and care partners of neurodiverse people contributing personal and professional expertise to various research projects. For the AASET-MHTP Research Study, AASET members select which roles on the study they would like to be. Studies that collaborate with AASET commit to including AASET members in all major study decisions (e.g., affecting study participants) and striving for authentic, meaningful engagement and collaboration.
