What is AASET Advisory Group?
AASET (Autistic Adults and other Stakeholders Engage Together) is an advisory group of community research partners co-led by Drs. Teal Benevides and Stephen Shore. It was founded in 2017 from an engagement award from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). AASET includes neurodiverse people and care partners of neurodiverse people contributing personal and professional expertise to various research projects. AASET members select which research projects they would like to be named partners on and which roles they would like to have on the respective project (e.g., members of the Community Council, Clinician Training Team, Recruitment and Engagement Team, etc.). Studies that collaborate with AASET commit to including AASET members in all major study decisions (e.g., affecting study participants) and striving for authentic, meaningful engagement and collaboration.
