A 3 day interactive training workshop designed for special education teachers, regular education teachers assistant teachers inclusion facilitators, speech/language therapists, and other professionals who work with students with autism spectrum disorders.

Target Audience:

This course is designed for special education teachers, assistant teachers, speech language therapists, and other professionals who work with students with autism.

Content:

The workshop will include lecture, interactive discussion, and small group activities developed to give participants practice designing and using Structured Teaching methods and behavior management strategies.

Objectives:

- How autism spectrum disorders affect learning and behavior
- How to use informal assessment to develop appropriate educational goals for students with or without intellectual disabilities
- How to provide instructional modifications and supports from preschool through high school
- How to design classroom space and work tasks to maximize learning
- How to prevent, analyze, and solve behavior problems in students with autism spectrum disorders

Continuing Education Credits:

CEU's will not be offered at this workshop; however a Certificate of Completion, including contact hours, will be available at the conclusion of the workshop.

Selection:

Registration is on a first come, first serve basis.  Confirmation of registration will be mailed once payment is received.

Cost:

- $240.00 for North Carolina teachers/professionals
- $480.00 for out-of-state teachers /professionals
Fees include registration, snacks, and workshop supplies. Registration is not guaranteed if form and payment is received after February 8, 2012. If the class reaches capacity, registrants will be notified of wait list status.

CHANGES AND CANCELLATIONS

Cancellations received less than three business days are subject to a $25 cancellation fee. Refunds will not be granted after the program has begun. A substitute participant may be designated in place of a registrant who cannot attend. TEACCH reserves the right to cancel, post-pone or combine class sections; to limit registration; or to change instructors. TEACCH will make every effort to notify participants as soon as possible of any changes or cancellations. Participants should consider the possibility of change or cancellation when opting for non-refundable travel arrangements.
