Autism Speaks Awards $450K Research Grant to TEACCH Autism Program
Laura Klinger, PhD, Principle Investigator of the study and Executive Director of TEACCH, will use the grant from Autism Speaks to conduct a landmark 40-year follow-up study of individuals served by the TEACCH Autism Program. Mark Klinger, PhD, and Joseph Piven, MD, are co-investigators on the study.

The 34th Annual TEACCH Autism Program Conference: ASD Interventions Across the Lifespan is scheduled for May 16, and 17, 2013 at The Friday Center in Chapel Hill, NC. The Preconference will be held Wednesday, May 15, 2013 with two concurrent workshops scheduled in the afternoon. Featured Speakers at the Conference will include: Gary B. TEACCH's Five Day, Hands-on Demonstration Classroom Training - Summer 2013
This five-day hands-on course provides a theoretical foundation as well as hands-on opportunities to assess and teach children with ASD in a classroom setting. The premise of this foundation is an understanding of the learning styles of students with ASD and the development of individualized structure. An emphasis is placed on the use of Structured TEACCHing principles to teach students with ASD skills in the areas of academics (literacy and numeracy), communication, independence, social, leisure, relaxation and coping strategies as well as behavior management.
